Where are you Little Birdie (2019)
The most recent iteration of the (for some reason never-ending) project Where are you Little Birdie (2019). It is a compiled archive of found photos and remnants of found letters that have been almost completely altered to fit a new fictional narrative. A book that was originally supposed to display truth came to represent something entirely different as I worked through it. It became about archives of people who have passed away, and the ethics of working with them as an artist and altering them for your practice. Whatever shreds of truth that may be left in the story I am telling are completely unknown to the audience, and will never be known without my intervention. Old photos and letters are often seen as more authentic than contemporary ones, but what happens when you are purposefully told they are lying to you?
